Uncle Artie comes to DC

Article Abstract:

Uncle Artie Zaharoff's visit to Washington D.C. in 2004 for the 62nd reunion of the 11th Armored Division of World War II battle is discussed. Artie's division had liberated Mauthausen on May 5, 1945, a concentration camp in Austria where more than 100,000 prisoners were murdered. The celebration of this event of reunion is described.

Northern Virginia native chef Johnny Monis, owner of Komi off Dupont Circle, won the Rammy award nomination for the best new chef given by Washington D.C.'s Restaurant Association. He discusses the manner in which he dealt with the pressure of opening the Komi restaurant that had a lot of early buzz.
