Article Abstract:

Wandering European woodworkers who immigrated to the US in the late 19th century crafted elaborately embellished furniture and other objects from discarded materials and bartered these for food and lodging. Their work, known as tramp art, is now a highly prized art form.

High style, luxury, elegance and superb craftsmanship characterized the design of French furniture before World War I. This art form came to be known as Art Deco. Presently, a great deal of Art Deco furniture is on the market, offering good opportunities for investment.
