Article Abstract:
The wild salmon begin their life as eggs buried in the gravel bed. They later become alevin, then parr and then fingerlings. After passing through these stages, the salmon embark on a journey from freshwater to the saltwater of the ocean. They return to the spawning grounds when it is time for them to lay their eggs.
