The cities of Hanoi and Saigon in Vietnam are different in their social and cultural atmospheres. Hanoi, in the north, is still firmly rooted in the country's past, while Saigon, in the south, is progressive and shows the influence of Western culture. The economy is improving, but still has a ways to go.
