The Trinity Alps in Northern California offer a glimpse of untamed wilderness still pristine and untrammeled by tourists. Abandoned mines, old saloons and hotels, and friendly local folk are among the attractions. The towns of Weaverville, Yreka, Etna and Shasta are described.

Arctic dreams

Article Abstract:

A 1,250-mile voyage up the coast of Norway on Norwegian Coastal Express ships is described. The ships are not luxury liners, they carry cargo as well as people, and the comfort of the accommodations vary. The ships stop at Norway's most westerly, easterly and northerly towns.

Blown away by Bora Bora

Article Abstract:

A family vacation to Bora Bora is described. The family arrived shortly after a cyclone had hit Bora Bora and destroyed thousands of the island's palm trees and damaged 400 area homes. The family's experiences on the island were mixed.
