Article Abstract:
Hong Kong is due to come under Chinese control on Jul 1, 1997, and already clashes between British and Chinese culture is evident. One way in which the cultures blend smoothly however is in the ritual of tea drinking. Some of the colony's finest tea houses where the ritual is observed are described.

Unlike much of Southeast Asia affected by its rush toward Western-style capitalism, Laos has managed to retain its cultural identity. Though still authoritarian and communist, it is a welcome place for visitors eager to see an unspoiled Indochinese culture.

Asia's rapidly modernizing capitals have lost the romance and mystery of old Asia. Adventurers should go quickly to surviving wilderness areas or Himalayan hideaways. Communist countries also still offer non-Western oriented culture for the tourist.
