Talking lake

Article Abstract:

The movement of ice on Tustumena Lake in Alaska produced sounds that mimicked moaning. The sounds were caused by contraction and expansion of the ice on the lake, and caused some concern to visitors until they found out their source.

Ice climbing is a dangerous sport, but a sport that can provide inspiration for those who participate in it. Big Kahuna, an ice fall in Alaska, provided great inspiration to one person who climbed it because of its beauty.

An attempt by deputy director of Alaska State Parks, his son and a Texas ranger, to rescue a bear cub, which ended tragically, is discussed. A bear, which ran off, is killed by starvation or by another bear.
