The National Rifle Assn and the Institute of Makers of Explosives oppose of placing identification taggants, a foreign substance, in commercial explosives. The two groups are concerned about the safety threats to employees and users that may arise from the injection of the substance.

Waco hearings conclusion: leadership flawed

The investigation of the 1993 burning of the Branch Davidian compound in Waco, Texas by two Congressional committees revealed flawed leadership in the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms as one of the causes of the tragedy.
