Article Abstract:

Playwright Tina Landau and composer Adam Guettel were intrigued by the true story of Floyd Collins, a farmer who became trapped underground in 1925, and spent 6 years turning it into a musical. The resulting production, 'Floyd Collins', explores themes of greed and love. It had a successful run in New York, and will soon open at Chicago's Goodman Theater.

'The Laramie Project' will have its first Chicago production at the Next Theatre in Evanston on November 12th. The play is based on interviews with real citizens of Laramie, Wyoming, the town where Matthew Shepard, the young gay man who was murdered in a hate-crime in 1998.
