Article Abstract:

The anti-smoking campaign in the US is gaining ground. In fact, Hillary Rodham Clinton had probihited smoking in the White House and Congress is set to pass a bill banning smoking in all federal buildings. With such developments, the campaign to ban smoking in all public places may not be a far-fetched reality for Americans.

A flat tax would eliminate tax loopholes and deductions, lower income-tax rates, and minimize paperwork. However, simplification of taxation would endanger the jobs of thousands of Washington, DC, residents whose work is related to taxation.
