What in America are called French fries were actually invented in Belgium, and they are still a major part of the culinary tradition there. The secret of Belgian fries are that they are fried twice. There are about 5,000 fries stands in the country, which is about the size of Maryland.

The Dartmoor National Park in western England is home to the famed Dartmoor pony, about 5,000 of which live wild among the park's 368 square miles. There are about 30,000 villagers living in the park, where there is evidence of human habitation dating back to the Stone Age.
