Fairmount continuously pays tribute to its most famous native, actor James Dean. Residents were recently angered by rumors that Dean was gay or at least bisexual. A gay couple who moved to Fairmount and opened a museum in honor of Dean were convicted of molesting a teenage boy in 1994.
