Article Abstract:

Southern hospitality still lives and is generously demonstrated in the inns that dot the Southern landscape. Some evoke images of the traditional South, while some showcase the cosmopolitan and carefree nature of the New South. Five inns are profiled and a directory of 20 others is presented.

Two for the ages

Article Abstract:

Forts Morgan and Gaines are located at the mouth of Mobile Bay, AL. The two forts became famous during the Civil War because of the battle cry issued by Adm David Farragut before he took over the South's last port of Mobile, AL, in 1864. Attractions in the forts are described.

Gracious Chestertown

Article Abstract:

A visit to the colonial town of Chestertown, MD, and outlying areas along the Chesapeake Bay are described. The area offers quaint 18-century inns and good gourmet and seafood restaurants.
