High school coaches keep going despite hardships and little material rewards because they believe that they are committed to help change a kid's life. A coach's only reward is to see a child grow up into a better person through sports.

That championship season

Article Abstract:

Three high schools in Alexandria, VA, were desegregated and merged in 1971. The football team of the surviving high school, T.C. Williams, won the Virginia AAA state championship in 1977. It was a historic event for race relations.
