Article Abstract:

The summer of 1997 is the 100th anniversary of the great Yukon gold rush, when about 100,000 people set out to northwest Alaska in search of gold. People can still pan for gold along the Klondike River, and centennial celebrations are being held throughout the area, including Dawson City.

The Oregon coast is a wild and rugged place. There is a thriving oyster industry in the area. Oysters are sensitive to their environments and the taste of the oyster varies according to its place of origin. A driving trip to the region is an excellent way to sample local oysters.
