Article Abstract:

US government intends to expand the reserves into federal waters around the Channel Islands after the California Fish and Game Commission (FCG) voted to establish 12 non contiguous Marine Protected Areas (MPAs) among the islands making 10 of the MPAs off-limits to both recreational and commercial fishing. Twelve alternative fishing spots in Channel Islands are described.

The presence of large numbers of Pacific bonito and Atlantic bonito (false albacore or albie) along the Atlantic and Pacific coasts, from July to early fall, and methods of catching these varieties of fish, are discussed.
