A family vacation in Washington, D.C. should include trips to the original Smithsonian Institution building, the National Air and Space Museum and a short trip to the National Zoo. The trip should not include the Library of Congress, the National Archives or the National Aquarium because of lack of interest to young children.

Thirty-seven US states have at least one minor-league baseball team. The games provide family-outing opportunities because seats can be purchased for as little as four dollars and players usually agree to sign autographs. Some teams entice with giveaways such as balls and bats.
