The cane-line cuts of the Pass a l'Outre Wildlife Area (WMA) in Mississippi River Delta are proposed a great area to jig for specks, reds and flounder. The brakes in the roseau cane are said to be very effective windbreaks.

The opportunity of sight-fishing for cobia in the shallow waters of Tampa-area flats in Florida is explored. The cobia is a deep-water fish, which cruises the Tampa-area flats in late fall and early spring.
