Article Abstract:

Issues concerning the history of some of the artifacts and collections in the Anchorage Museum of History and Art, Alaska are presented. Reference is made to the fact that because Alaska's population if often transient, many historical treasures have been scattered far and wide.

The great Alaska reindeer drive

Article Abstract:

In the early part of the 20th century reindeer herding was big business in Alaska. Carl Lomen was an entrepreneur who, under a deal with the Canadian government, in 1929 set out to drive a herd of 3000 reindeer to the Mackenzie river delta, a journey that took five years.
