Against the odds

Article Abstract:

Irasema Salcido and other founding members began the Cesar Chavez Public Charter High School for Public Policy in 1998, in Washington, D.C. A space for the school was created in the basement of a D.C. mall, using grant money. The first year in the life of the school is chronicled here.

Racing for hope

Article Abstract:

Lionel Chaiken along with his wife Sandy got involved in brain tumor research after their daughter was afflicted with the ailment. They are now organizing the Race for Hope, a five-kilometer walk/run to raise funds for their research.

Several good restaurants in Washington DC are recommended for hosting weddings' rehearsal dinners. These include the Sequoia, Crystal Room at the Willard Hotel, Maggiano's Little Italy, That's Amore and Clyde's of Tysons.
