First Sergeant Robert Ferguson was one of the few confederate soldiers, who was provided a headstone by US government in 2005, with a parade and ceremonies around the flagpole and the stacked cannon balls in US National Cemetery. There were hundreds of footstone engraved only with 'CV' for Confederate Veteran in the Green Hill Cemetery.
