Fountains Abbey Visitor Centre, Yorkshire, the Jewellery Quarter Discovery Centre, Birmingham and South East Cornwall Discovery Centre opened in England during 1992. Fountains Abbey centre is architecturally excellent but facilities do not encourage cost-effective operation. the Jewellery Quarter provides a focus for Birmingham's jewellery manufacture. A working museum demonstrates techniques. However, poor location limits its tourist potential.The Discovery Centre, Looe, Cornwall aims to divert tourist attention to Cornwll's natural attractions through exhibition and videos. Excellent location may account for high visitor numbers.

The Midlands region of the UK boasts three motor museums which reflect the national heritage of this industry, with the oldest, the Museum of British Road Transport in Coventry, dating from 1980, followed by the National Motorcycle Museum in 1984, and the Heritage Motor Centre in 1993. For non-specialist, the Museum of British Road Transport offers the most attraction, while the other two museums are more geared to specialists. The Heritage Centre is more up-market, while the Motorcycle Museum is geared to biking enthusiasts.

Article Abstract:
The National Railway Museum, York, England is the most highly attended static railway collection. Since 1975 exhibits have been displayed traditionally. However, in March 1990 the exhibition hall was closed for repairs and a replacement exhibition the 'Great Railway Show' (GRS) was established presenting a period tableau. The Great hall reopened in April 1992 providing an enlarged facility with wider appeal. The GRS has been retained due to it's popularity.
