Toronto to post inspection results at restaurants

Article Abstract:

The Toronto, Ontario, city council voted unanimously in Aug 2000 to adopt a plan that will establish a three-color posting system at all Toronto diners. The posting system will indicate the levels of cleanliness and food safety of 18,000 food establishments across the city. Its results will also be featured on the city's World Wide Web site. The plan will make Toronto the first city in Canada to force eating places to post health-inspection reports in public view and to provide patrons, upon demand, with a more detailed copy of their most recent inspection report.
