Article Abstract:

The study examines the distribution mix for tourism attractions in Rotorua, a major New Zealand destination, based on in-depth interviews with 20 providers. Factors influencing the overall distribution mix include the segments targeted, the characteristics of the attractions, and the perceived advantages and disadvantages of different channels with respect to yield, control and segmentation.

Tourism's forward and backward linkages

Article Abstract:

Linkage analysis as a complement to the traditional tourism-impact analysis is proposed to examine tourism's economic imprints on a destination's economy. A methodology to calculate tourism's forward and backward linkages using national, regional or local input-output tables is developed and its utility by applying it to Hawaii is demonstrated.
