The American Adventure

Article Abstract:

The American Adventure is a Wild West-style theme park close to Derby, UK. It is rivalled by the nearby Alton Towers theme park, but costs just 1.99 per person, plus rides. There are about twelve big rides and a lot of little ones. The park has a neglected look, though some rides are exciting and the atmosphere is generally pleasant. Nestles is in evidence, with vending machines selling Nestles products and Nestles ice-creams being sold there, albeit not off-season. There are catering facilities which do not appear to be fully operational in spring.

Chilling out

Article Abstract:

There are several ways to sell ice creams at events, ranging from vans to trikes. A 30,000 pound sterling ice cream will come equiped with a soft ice cream distributor, freezers and lighting, while up to 2,000 pounds sterling will be enough to purchase a trike with a freezer storage compartment on the front to sell ice creams from. The UK market is expected to increase during 1999 after seeing sales decline to 60 million pounds sterling during 1998, caused mainly by a cold, wet summer.

Acting on impulse

Article Abstract:

New laws in the UK prohibit major ice cream makers Bird's Eye Walls, Mars and Nestle from making outlet exclusivity agreements tieing the retailer to a manufacturer. The legislation means that retailers can use storage freezers provided by one manufacturer to display products from any other producer to a maximum of 50% by volume. The move is aimed at stimulating competition and increasing consumer choice.
