Success & succession in a family-owned restaurant

Article Abstract:

The Rastrelli family has expanded from a single unit to become a successful multi-chain corporation. Problems which they overcame included management succession after the death of the father, and planning for future goals and growth. Sometimes as in the Brothers Deli restaurant, key people are recruited from outside the family.

Don Roth has built a solid reputation with his 4 operations in Chicago. Each one bears his distinctive touch. In 1978 he won IFMA's Golden Plate Award. Recently George Miros, former president of Tastee Freeze joined the Roth operations added his expertise and enthusiasm to the successful venture.
