Article Abstract:

The British Royal Armouries is opening in Leeds, England in March 1996 and will offer approximately 10,000 armouries exhibits dating back to 350BC. The project cost 42.5 million pounds sterling to complete, and will create approximately 1,000 jobs in the Yorkshire area. The Yorkshire Tourist Board is pleased with the development because it will enhance business within the area. Approximately 750,000 visitors are expected during the first year of opening.

Article Abstract:

The leisure industry should promote its economic strengths to achieve a higher profile. It is a rapidly expanding industry that employs around 2.5 million people, and should be recognized as such. The government and planning bodies should be fully informed about the leisure industry's capacity to provides more jobs in the United Kingdom. Some 400,000 new jobs will be created by 2008, according to forecasts.

Post-war Kuwait

Article Abstract:

Kuwait reconstruction is proceeding slowly following destruction from the Persian Gulf War, 1991. Many leisure facilities were hard hit due to their strategic importance on Kuwait City waterfront. Reestablishment of oil, electricity and water services has taken priority. However, leisure redevelopment is anticipated in the long-term althuogh investment is unlikely to match pre-war spending.
