Article Abstract:
Flexibility is the most important design feature of new stadia and arenas. Technological changes in roof construction have aided stadia flexibility but moveable roofing is necessary for maximum benefit. Arena roofing must allow for a variety of loads including lighting, walk areas and sound equipment. Interior design is changing to accommodate flexible seating and moveable walls greatly extend capacity. Arenas and stadia are being built in urban areas to minimise infrastructure costs and provide maximum benefit to the area.
