Meanings and consumption characteristics of places at a tourism destination

Article Abstract:

The definition given by community residents to a broad range of places shared with tourists at an alpine destination is explored by monitoring the places in terms of the normative meanings using hedonic, utilitarian, novelty, and social variables. It is learnt that comprehensive investigations of supply and demand features of tourism destinations along with the places at the destination are a paramount area of tourism inquiry.

The general framework for analyzing tourist choice alternatives is the perception based analysis. An empirical example, for tour operators is presented that illustrates the various data processing steps and discusses their policy implications.
