Grassroots action

Article Abstract:

Restaurant owners in Saskatchewan are delighted that the provincial government did not approve a proposal that would impose a sales tax on restaurant meals. The government's decision was largely influenced by the grassroots campaign started by the Canadian Restaurant and Foodservices Assn (CRFA). The trade association met with the province's legislators and ran full-page ads featuring slogans such as 'Please do not tax my dinner.' CRFA also encouraged residents to fax or mail protest coupons.
