The writers researched leisure operations although the character of Brittas was based on a general middle management figure. Leisure professionals are not worried by the series. They consider situations too farcical to be taken seriously. Attendance at the venue for filming, Ringwood Leisure Centre, Winchester, England may have increased because of the series.

The trust has devised a commercial proposition that provides publicity in return for investment. The facilities will enhance the existing successful sportcentre that includes multi-sport and catering facilities. Two national companies have already expressed interest in the venture.
