Tom Oliver, chairman and chief executive officer of Bass Hotels and Resorts, says he is basically a nomad who loves travelling, particularly flying. His working life began as a management trainee for American Airlines and his career spans travel, services and telecommunications. The main change Oliver has accomplished at Bass is its reorganisation into four main regions, Asia-Pacific, Europe, the Middle East and Africa, and two US sectors.
