Eastbourne means business

Article Abstract:

A tourism initiative aims to rejuvenate the middle-aged image of Eastbourne, England. Resort Prosperity Initiative hopes to attract younger clientele to the town. The scheme was prompted by a tourism survey in 1990. Council, business and community collaboration aims to increase tourism through holidays, short breaks and school visits. Leisure and sports facilities are being developed and promoted. Local businesses have contributed 35,000 pounds sterling to the scheme and the English Tourist Board has contributed 75,000 pounds.

The Library Association is launching new initiatives to combat the threat to the library service of reduced book funds and branch closures. The Association wants library users to write to their MPs and lobby local councillors and its Library Power campaign will concentrate on children's entitlement to decent libraries. The Department of National Heritage (DNH) has produced a report that considers how children's access to library resources can be improved.

Article Abstract:

A jail house visitor attraction opened in the Town Hall, King's Lynn, England on Mar 31, 1993. The exhibition is the first phase of a tourism development project portraying King's Lynn's history. The attraction features interactive displays, tableaux and audio tour. The scheme, devised by PLB Design Group cost 200,000 pounds sterling to develop.
