Canada's top five family and casual-dining chains experienced increased sales in 1999 ranging from 8%-10% with combined sales of C$1.18 billion. However, these five chains, namely Cara Operations Ltd's Swiss Chalet, Prime Restaurant Group Inc, Keg Restaurants Ltd, Kelsey's International Inc. and SIR Corp, face future challenges, such as market saturation, rising input costs as well as menu development. To address these challenges, these chains are aggressively pursuing high performing sites, quality in food and excellence in service with careful attention to value and pricing.

Villages Pizza was started in Victoria, Canada in1995 where it catered to the rich people in the society, and later five new branches were started within the city. The company, which constantly refines its pizza recipes, takes sufficient care to ensure cleanliness and good quality food for the customers and it is also considering opportunities for expansion in the Vancouver Island.
