Resort developer Sol Kerzner has redeveloped a hotel on Paradise Island in the Bahamas, converting it into the Atlantis complex. This facility includes an aquarium, a waterpark, a casino and a marina. It now claims to be the largest island resort in the world. There are a total of 2,300 rooms, with guests being able to choose from 20 different restaurants and nine lounge bars. There are many swimming pools, along with a spa and health club and a 25,000 sq ft ballroom.

Michael Whetton, managing director of UK football club Manchester United's catering organisation, has enjoyed his twenty-year career at the company. The organisation continually searches for new ways to further business, says Whetton. It has an extensive merchandise product range including soft drinks and alcohol. The Red Cafe themed restaurant at the North Stand of the football ground was opened in Jul. 1996. It has 200 seats and is open every day of the week.

Thirty British theme parks were surveyed to assess the impact of EuroDisneyland. Most considered that increased awareness of leisure parks would have a beneficial effect although parks with less easy access might lose weekend trade. No large-scale investment has been planned to make British parks more competitive. However, themeing and facilities for toddlers and children under nine have been extended. New attractions at major centres are described.
