World's largest FPU completed

Article Abstract:

The conversion of a Korean-built derrick crane semi-submersible into the world's largest floating production system is discussed. The unit, built by Jurong Shipyard for Brazilian oil firm Petrobras, can produce 150,000 bbl. per day.

World's No 2 in box throughput

The Port of Singapore Authority saw a rise of 7.2% in container throughput to 17.04 million TEU in 2000 compared to 1999. The market is extremely competitive, but the use of technology has kept the port ahead of its rivals.

Two Singaporean shipyards have won contracts to build fast catamarans for New World First Ferry Services. Details of the fast passenger ferries to be constructed at Marinteknik Shipbuilders and Damen Shipyard are given.
