Article Abstract:
Some of the largest container ships ever built have been completed in Germany by Kvaerner Warnow Werft for P&O Nedlloyd. The first of the ships, with a deadweight of 67,902 t, has been delivered and a further three 5,468 TEU container vessels are under construction.

FBM is building five 50-knot 45-m. Tricat catamarans for CTS-Parkview (Holdings) Ltd. and four 45-m. Transcat aluminum fast ferries for Portugal's Transtejo. CTS-Parkview will use the Tricats to serve its Hong Kong-Macau route. The Transcats, the largest ships FBM can build in its facility on the Isle of Wight, will be used by Transtejo for passenger routes on the River Tagus.

Article Abstract:
Armas, the Spanish roll-on/roll-off ferry operator, has filed an order for an Aquastrada TMV 114 from Cantieri Navale Rodriguez. The TMV 114 is the largest of the Aquastrada design to be ordered so far from the Italian fast ferry manufacturer. The $42-million vessel, which is expected to be delivered in early 2000, will be commissioned in the Canary Islands. The ship will be capable of carrying as many as 800 passengers and 220 automobiles.
