Standing on their own feet

Article Abstract:

The Polish shipping industry is expected to make good progress in 1996 and beyond as the country's economy continues to improve. However, the industry still has to boost productivity. The industry's 2.17 million gt. orders make it fourth on the world orderbook, but it is ranked eighth in terms of production. Builders, repairers and equipment manufacturers are still adapting to a free market economy but have the necessary business and worksmanship skills to become a global leader.
