Article Abstract:

Electrical control power-take-off- (PTO) and power-take-in- (PTI) driven generators are increasingly being used in sea vessels. The generators are driven from the main engine. PTO and PTI can provide an economical and efficient method of powering a wide range of onboard equipment and optimizing spare engine capacity for electric power production. The electrical control also enables greater speed variation.
