Reefer equipment - an owner's view

Article Abstract:

The Blue Star Line's refrigeration and equipment manager, Keith Eade, believes that there are good prospects for bulk reefers and container operations. Reefer equipment technology has advanced to a significant extent in the past years, particularly in terms of cargo monitoring processes, the use of microprocessors and in data gathering for refrigeration. UK-based Blue Star has worked closely with its contractors to adopt software and equipment technology that will meet its special refrigeration needs.

Environmental concern forbids grit blasting

Article Abstract:

Hydro blasting is considered as the most feasible alternative to the environmentally unsound grit blasting method of surface preoaration. With hydro blasting, most of the environmental and safety problems involved in ship surface preparation are resolved. The two types of hydro blasting machines that are currently available for taking out corroded paint are described.
