Article Abstract:
Malaysia International took delivery of three container ships from Malaysia Shipyard and Engineering (Johor, Malaysia), in the first four months of 1997 and will accept a fourth in March 1998. The ships have Lieber cranes for handling containers, a Sulzer 5RTA 52U main engine, and Yanmar M200 AL-EN diesel engines providing electricity. There are five decks of accommodation with mostly single cabins with private facilities for the 26 members of the crew. There is a lifeboat and three life rafts which can between them take all the crew in case of emergency.

The freight ships 'Norsky' and 'Norstream' have been chartered by P and O North Sea Ferries from owner Oy Rettig ab Bore. The vessels will be used for the company's Zeebrugge, Belgium, to Teesport, UK, route, a move that increases P and O's freight capacity by 35%. The ships, which will replace the 'Norking' and the Norqueen,' are capable of accommodating as many as 210 trailers. Both the 'Norsky' and the 'Norstream' are set to be delivered by Oct 1999.

Ico Global Communications, a UK-based mobile satellite communications company, has been saved from bankruptcy by a cash injection of $550 million. The company plans to launch its global mobile satellite services in the second quarter of 2001.
