Innovative product tanker design

Article Abstract:

The innovative 4,200 dwt short-sea product tanker ordered by the Bergen Tankers from the Alesund-based NVC Design is discussed. It is the first ship to be built by using an innovative concept developed by Rolce Royce, combining a tailor-made hull design with a mechanical propulsion system.

Seasnake rattles conventional wisdom

Article Abstract:

An innovative design for transporting oil across oceans is described. The Seasnake, designed by US naval architect Carl Kountz, consists of a tractor type ship towing a train of barges which operate as a single flexible unit.
