Vancouver-based Seaspan Container Lines (SCL) recently placed orders with Korea-based Samsung Heavy Industries - the foremost global leader in construction of container ships - for five 4,250, five 8,100 and eight 9,600 TEU ships to be delivered over the next three years. With the delivery of these ships, SCL will become a major container ship owner. Graham Porter, the director of SCL, explains the main features and roles of the new ships.
