Article Abstract:

SAFEDOR u Design, Operation and Regulation for Safety, is a project aimed to increase safety through innovation and strengthen the competitiveness of the European maritime industry. The objectives of the project have been listed and can be achieved by following the risk-based design methodology that integrates risk analysis in the design process alongside standard design objectives to get a best possible solution.

Nanotechnology could provide cleaner fuels

Article Abstract:

Scientists at the University of Aarhus, Denmark, have developed a method of removing harmful sulfur from fossil fuels. Although this new method could be an improvement over the current commercial process, it could prove problematic for residual fuel use.

Article Abstract:

Implementing the International Ship and Port Facilities Security (ISPS) code and enforcing it are two different issues. The difficulties in enforcing compliance, and Datatrac's new system Securitrac, designed for enabling easier compliance, are examined.
