Antecedents of fatigue, close calls, and crashes among commercial motor-vehicle drivers

Article Abstract:

A study conducted to examine the effects of potentially fatigue-inducing factors, which is inherent in truck driving work and company safety management in explaining various issues concerning commercial motor-vehicle (CMV) drivers, is presented. The results revealed that safety practices have the potential to offset fatigue-inducing factors associated with truck driving work.

Effect of loss control service on reported injury incidence

Article Abstract:

A loss control service strategy that can provide service flexibility and develop partnership between employer and consultant helps to reduce the frequency and severity of workers' compensation claims. Both internal and external barriers to consultation service flexibility must be identified and removed to enhance service value.

Preferred surface microscopic geometric features on floors as potential interventions for slip and fall accidents on liquid contaminated surfaces

Article Abstract:

The preferred microscopic geometric features that are able to increase friction on the surfaces covered with liquid contaminants are discussed. Guidance to safety professionals on the different ways to select new floor surfaces or assess existing floors to reduce slip accidents is presented.
