Marine engines, propulsion and shaftline components, management, monitoring, control and maintenance are the focus areas of the 27th Motor Ship Marine Propulsion Conference, Bilbao, Spain from January 27-28, 2005. The presentation papers of Bureau Veritas, Technical University Varna, Naval University of Engineering China and others are discussed.

Issues are presented concerning the conversion of the 'Incat 050' theatre logistics vessel by Incat Australia for the US Army. The vessel is able to transport 325 personnel and 450-tonnes of cargo at a speed of 35-knots.
