An evaluation of the effectiveness of a baby walker safety standard to prevent stair-fall injuries

Article Abstract:

A study is conducted to evaluate the effectiveness of the stair-fall requirements to prevent stair-fall injuries, which became effective in 1997 as part of a revised voluntary standard. The stair fall requirements reduced the emergency department injury rate by an estimated 63% which shows the ability of government and industry to work together cooperatively to develop effective safety improvements for conumer products.

Factors associated with the crash risk of adult bicyclists

Article Abstract:

Research using logistic regression analysis has established that adult cyclists aged between 25 and 34 are more likely to be involved in a crash than those in any other age group. A crash incident is highly likely to occur on a road and more likely to involve a man than a woman. Accident probability statistics are given. Other factors which influence crash probability include region and bicycle type.
