Article Abstract:
International Maritime Organisation (IMO) regulation for bulk carriers, shipowners and operators requires them to install water ingress monitoring system (WIDS) in order to comply with the regulation 12 of SOLAS Chapter XII, IACS UR S24. Accordingly, the UK based Martek Marine has manufactured `bulksafe' which fully complies with the regulations and also has features such that are totally isolated from the cargo and protected from dust and mechanical damage from cargo operations.

Article Abstract:
The development of VOCON procedure by the Intertanko that is supported by the Danish valve utilizes existing onboard equipment to help the crew minimize unnecessary cargo boil-off. The company concluded that preventing excessive boil-off is fundamentally better than the system that re-generates or re-circulates that boil-off, and is cheaper to install and maintain.

Norway has undertaken steps to reduce its emissions of VOC as it reacts with sunlight to create ground-level ozone that causes ill-health and distress. This is done under its European Convention on Long-range Transboundary Air Pollution obligations and the Norwegian Pollution Control Authority (SFT), part of the Ministry of Environment.
