Toward a new measure of intrinsic motivation, extrinsic motivation, and amotivation in sports: the Sport Motivation Scale (SMS)

Article Abstract:

Application of the Sports Motivation Scale (SMS) on 593 university athletes with an average age of 19.27 years revealed three types of effects, Intrinsic Motivation, Extrinsic Motivation and Amotivation effects, on the sporting performance of an athlete. Application of SMS on a second group of 50 soccer players including 31 females and 19 males from the Ottawa region revealed that the SMS in English has the required level of validity and dependability over a five-week span.

Development and validation of the multidimensional sportspersonship orientations scale

Article Abstract:

Research on professionalism and moral behavior in sports has concentrated on social-learning and structural development. A Multidimensional Sportspersonship Orientations Scale was developed to assess intentions specific to each dimension of sportsmanship.

A model for exercise behavior change regulation in patients with heart disease

Article Abstract:

The level of influence exercised by self-efficacy and self-determination due to change in health behavior is examined. The research aims to create a model for exercise behavior change that could help patients recovering from heart disease.
