Former tennis champion Vitas Gerulaitis proved his friendship for Pete Sampras at the 1994 US Open Championships when he assisted the latter after he lost to Jaime Yzaga due to an injury. Gerulaitis did not only escort Sampras to the referees' office but also carried his racquets to his locker.
